In case anyone isn't the best pixel artist or is looking to get a bit of a headstart, you can find many tilesets at itch.io.
https://itch.io/search?q=tileset

Lots of pixel art tilesets that you can purchase for around the price of a trip or two to Starbucks, and even a few free ones if you look hard enough (be sure to check the useage rights). I suggest looking for ones marked as 16x16 tiles, or 8x8 (which you can combine to create 16pixel metatiles). Also look for ones with limited color pallets, as I haven't found any that fit the NES color requirement perfectly, but ones with already reduced colors are easier to reduce a bit more.

I'm still playing around in NESmaker, getting comfortable with the limitations, and trying to find ways to optimize to squeeze out more detail. But with a handful of tilesets I picked up from https://aamatniekss.itch.io/
It wasn't too hard to convert to NESmaker and create some nice screens pretty quickly.

Thanks AllDarnDavey. You right, it can be very useful for people like me that have extremely limited competence in graphics >_<

Nice. The different styles are inspirational. Also, do you know if NESmaker is capable of slopes, considering the bounding boxes?

It's probably possible, but I don't think slopes are currently supported nor have I seen anyone add support for it yet.

I did these screens when I first started teaching myself NESmaker graphics and how tiles and palettes work. They are real background shown in NESmaker, but none of these had physics or any gameplay setup. I imagine I would have had to ditch slopes for stairs for any parts that the player would interact with.
