PlayAccordion's Musical Quest

I'm making a game as a celebration for my YouTube channel. It will feature traditional Finnish music as chiptunes and the game itself will be some kind of quest where an accordionist fights his way against other evil instruments (electric guitar, keyboards etc.)

This is not so serious project and actually I first started this to be able to play chiptune music on original NES hardware. But well... Then it grew a bit bigger and now I am making a playable game as well :)

If I managed to catch your interest, please subscribe to my YouTube channel. It is all about videogame music. I will launch the game after it hits 200 subscribers. And after that I am planning to add more levels & music when the channel hits next milestone.

Here is an Instagram teaser about the game.

It is almost there. =D

When I'm writing this my Youtube channel has 195 subscribers and I have almost finished the game. (1st level)

The game includes: Left2Right gameplay, parkouring, puzzles and living musical instruments as monsters.

There will be a boss at the end of the level too. A giant keyboard trying to hit our poor accordion hero with piano keys falling from the sky. xD

I have had real fun making this game. Can't wait to show it to you :)

By the way. Where should I put the game when it is ready? Itchio? Or is there some other cool place where people share their NES games?

Can't wait for a sequel PlayBagpipes. :p

Dunno about coolness but itchio's pretty good place to gain some attention for your game and even earning a penny or two while you're at it even without directly asking any money for the game.

Hehe. 😄 That would be fun too!

Itchio seems to be a very good place. I'm pretty sure I'll go with that. Thank you!

All right. It has been a while since I last updated anything about my game... Here is a new teaser video! Game will be released as celebration to 500 subscribers.. It is quite far from that at the moment, but day by day it comes closer. =D (And I actually need a decent amount of time to fix all the bugs. ;) So I don't mind if it takes a while.)

If you are interested you can now back me in Patreon! For the VIP patrons there is also special merch available, including a hoodie with my game's start screen!

Thanks! 😊 I'm hoping to add many fun aspects into the game in the future. So it would not be "just another sidescroller".

Siisti peli-idea!

In case forum rules don't allow finnish here is some clarification. 😊

Albatrossi, the song that Oste mentioned is a famous Finnish piece composed by Juha Vainio and because I have a hobby of making chiptunes of old Finnish songs I promised to make it for my Youtube channel's 600 subs milestone. Maybe it could even fit as bgm for the next level that I will make for Musical Quest in the future.

I took myself 30 years back in time and started to think what were the cool and fun aspects in games back then. Games like SMB3, SMW and DKC2 were my absolute favorites as a kid and I believe it is because these games had so many secrets and bonus levels. This concept in mind I wanted to add some similarities in my game too. (in a much smaller scale though). So here is the first bonus level I made. Music is ofcourse traditional Finnish music.

ps. There is also some reference to my other favorite 8-bit machine. Can you guess what it is? ;)
