I modded a SNES controller with the 8bitdo DIY kit, and it works great. I'm so glad they fixed the directional contact pads, as 8bitdo dpad is always too sensitive.

I tend to use my PS4 controller to play NES games. I know it is less authentic, but I do sometime use my USB NES controller from 8bit as well.

I generally use a WFPPFNS (Wired Fight Pad Pro for Nintendo Switch) or the Nintendo Switch Joycons.
