Action/adventure with Souls -like things

Hey everyone! I have this kind of idea for Zelda/Crystalis-type NES game:

You have (example) five worlds and the fifth is the final world. You can storm the final world right away from the get-go, but it will be extremely painful! Better get some equipment from other four worlds first! (Unless you're up for a challenge)

The other four worlds can be played in any order with a twist - No matter which world you choose, it starts - let's say "LEVEL 1" difficulty. Next world will be "LEVEL 2" on difficulty and so on.

You will find from other 4 dungeons magic, which allows you to take out enemies and solving puzzles etc. Collecting all spells will help you a bunch at the fifth world. Some enemies are tough as nails in the final world, and their weakness are random.

For melee attack you have your trusty sword and ranged attack bunch of spells. Spells are (example) fire, ice, lightning and earth (how original 😅) and they work kinda like Mega Man -style, that some enemies/bosses are weaker to a certain spell.

When you beat world 5 and finish the game, you can start a New Game+ mode, which gives you all the stuff you had when the game was finished. All the worlds are tougher too and maybe you'll find a superboss or two! You can upgrade your sword and spells too, because NG+ is way harder than normal mode (faster and stronger enemies, lesser power-ups etc.)

What do you guys think? Is it even possible? This is just an idea still, if I ever find much needed time, I'll be considering this project! 😎

I like that idea and it all seems perfectly possible. Some parts will require custom scripts but you'll learn most of that from the advanced tutorials and some general ASM tutorials. The hardest parts will be saving data and the amout of different spells maybe. You could always do a WIP thread and ask for any help as you go. It's an ambitious first project but no reason why you can't do it.

I'm going to tune it down a little. Instead on NG+ feature I thought that the game will have 2 modes, normal and hard. The ideas for NG+ just expanded so large that I decided to abandon the idea. I think that hard mode instead NG+ will be enough and it will include secrets too and "true" ending. Planning the game is going well, but the actual making is slow. Hopefully I can get his project to WIP -section soon!

Just one picture of the game, making is slow but steady  HUD isn't working, it's just a mockup what it should look like in the final product.

You could still add the difficulty levels by working with screen triggers and the day/night thing to have 4 different world attributes. Then you can just, say, add some monsters as the game gets harder, and also up their resistance (if you like).

Or reduce a timer as the player beats worlds so they have to move faster to clear worlds as they progress
