i thought i'd work on my almika 2 in space shooter idea! Now that i've been through the grinder
with nesmaker 4.1.5, i feel comfortable making a game with it, again.
It will be different fersure, but in some ways the same.The game takes place in a space/spacestation/planet
type setting. You have a gun-arm and a visor, and different outfits or characters. The rest is fut-ory.(history)

RECENTLY ADDED.....

Drill legs .Helps you break certain blocks

Each melee and each projectile all have different damage.

The third Projectile weapon is a bomb!
It will destroy certain walls/bricks.

Visual hud cues for cooldowns and
current weapon selected.

Start menu for selecting music and weapons.

Tank form !

Boss fight!

MM blocks!

Pause menu!

There are several moves/actions so far.Press......


L to Move
R to move
D to duck
B to shoot
Hold B for 2 seconds and release for big shot
A to jump
Select to dash (has cooldown)
START to pause and go to music/weapon menu.
U to phase/invincible (has cool down)
the point of phasing is to not get hurt by an enemy
HOLD D and A to activate drill(a noise should start, you can destroyblocks)(in testing phase)
Also jump shoot,jump then dash, dash then phase,duck and shoot,phase then turnaround.

I will use what i've learned and apply my knowledge and wisdom.
Also this game will not be a "meatboy-esque" deathfest, probly more of a shooter/boss fighter maybe.
With much better bosses than the first one.

Hopefully the behind-the-scenes will be a little more complex somehow, i want to keep the game simple.

Thanks batsy. I'm trying to puta character together. Although it is Almika,
she's truly a spirit, so when she "gets physical" she could be different looking
than before. I'm messing with a late 70s but 80s vibe in space. I basically want her to look like
the trippy picture in the first post.
She has a gunarm,blade, and a walk-gal.(walk-man(( cassette tape player((( a cassette tape is
an old piece of technology mostly thought to be used for music and sound
but could also be used for video and even games!)))))))
Not sure how i'll impliment the tape player, maybe i'll let you pick songs
when you collect them, that might work. Any cool ideas are welcome.

I've got a sheet of paper, hence I can help with a design and I'm also a sprite artist through and through even though I don't do that much anymore due to my old age.
As for songs... Well, I suppose I can help make some but you'll need someone to convert them in to NES format which would make my work much easier.

Yes, I'm old and lazy by now.

Well, i do need some boss ideas. My bosses in Almika one are all the same truly.....
What i would like to do, atleast, is make some big tile basedbosses.

I'd want to go for H.R. Giger(contra)/ Robodemon sh*t....
but cute.

Example: A computer background with a skeleton torso, but it has hearts or flowers maybe.
Or i end up making it cuter with hearts or flowers.

Like in the first game, everyone turned into butterflies. I want something similar,
but maybe enemies "rest" and grow nice flowers after i defeat them.

As i said, ideas are good enough. But if you wanna doodle or sprite work, have at it.
But no pressure whatsoever, it may be a tall order anyway and i don't
have a timeline for this so do not stress for any of it please.

Made some sample graphics based on batsy's conceptual designs.
Needs work but it's a start.

One or two things will be objects. Probly the correct screen to shoot
and the monsters face.
I'll try to mix palette changing and tile changing with objects too, to
create a boss.

Most screens will have static, then one will have the heart.
Maybe sometimes they will all show the same things or
even make one picture with the four screens.

Ok , well now you're hired. For free of course. Ha joking. Very rad stuff goin on here. So maybe I have a whole space fungus level. I like these guys alot. Usually called shroopies, these can be robo-shroopie demons. Amazing work, I will use this for sure. Thanks basty.
Although maybe a hook comes out of their head,like it flips open,then they grab the ceiling and walk on it .
I will see what's doable and go from there. Perfect concept again , thanks.

I was thinking about them being room sized from which the worm thingies comes out in turns from the mushroom's mouths and shoots particles or something but whatever feeds your creative mind and you're able to do is good as well.

Ok yeah, we'll do that too. Pretty much a whole mushroom planet or space station! But it's definitely not a moon.

I see what you mean, especially for a boss. Or double boss. Great idea.

Proximity bomb shrooms, ceiling grabbing shrooms, big boss sexually awkward shrooms, and maybe some in between shrooms. Or digital ones!

In before you ask, yes. It's a giant mechanical spider on wheels with a cannon on top.
Because no game is perfect without mechanical monstrosities that explode in to butterflies.

This is also why I don't draw cars... My symmetric sense is "WHEEEEEEEEE!"...

Ok, I like this one! I'm tryin to think about what she does( or he). Either rolls on the back wall , or on the walls ceiling and floor, or possibly both. They'd have to be fast but maybe slows down as I blow limbs off.
The canon could shoot web blasts.

So far 3 different boss types. This one can't be a tile boss, but that's ok. Still doable and great.Thanks!

Yeah, it could be about 64x64 boss. Or 32x32. 🤔
Sorta forgetting optimal sizes due to my senileness right now...

If you make everything black, 64x64 should be doable. Though, dunno how true that stands for NESmaker.

And yeah, I try to think of things with NES limitations in mind.

Heres some progress. I wanted to make sure i could do these bosses,
so these are more or less just starting ideas. The mushrooms need objects for
faces, so i had them at different scanlines, and kept the mouths close to
the eyes. I think they will work fine.Each are an object and each can make an object
and they shouldnt interfere with eachother much as these are mostly tiles with
object faces, at different heights like i said.

They use very few different tiles so far, i havnt made un-symmetrical things for them yet,
or nice hats.

Yeah, they shouldn't be that hard to do since they don't move so you can actually make them as complex as you like.
Only sprites you really need to focus on are the hitboxes and as far as I know, bg graphics can be animated as well so having static in those screen shouldn't be that big of a deal.
Now moving objects will be a little different matter to be honest and I'm not sure how to use BG to make giant moving objects.

I mean, it's possible but I don't personally have any ideas or theories how to do it so you might want to ask around since it's a bit different matter than just moving few indexes around.
