Child of the Damned - LuboneSoft (game in development)

Hello,

LuboneSoft here :) My project has already received the title: Child of the Damned. Last week I didn't hang around. I focused mainly on the heroine and the animation of the run. Some elements of the first level were also created. However, the arrangement of the elements is still a test ... In order not to describe everything every time, I created a YouTube channel, where I will be uploading test videos from various stages of creation. Here is the link to the channel:

And two films, one introducing the atmosphere and theme of the channel:

The second is a test of the heroine's run animation + level graphics. In order to accurately reproduce the run, I had to analyze all its stages. It turned out quite promising:

First of all, I care about your opinions. For now, this is a very early version of the board so there may be some bugs. But write how you like it. Thanks. Greetings! :)

Hi Lubone!

The spritework looks cool! Running animation looks on point. It feels like the animation and movement speed of the protagonist are "out of sync" (either she animates too slow, or she moves too fast). The game is at an early development stage though, so I'll keep an eye out how the project will progress and get back with more feedback at a later stage.

Good luck and have fun with your project!

Thank you Kevin,

I tried to make the running sequences look natural. Next, I'll adjust what you pointed out - the speed. Thank you for this important opinion and motivation!

Stay in touch.

Hi, I'm uploading a new video from "Child of the Damned" (LuboneSoft). Since the last time I have introduced a few novelties:

- the most important in my opinion: scrolling left and right, the character can explore the entire stage,
- I added a jump,
- I synchronized the running animation with the speed of movement on the board,
- I added an additional background in the form of mountains,
- access to the roofs of buildings,
- I put together some new objects.

The game takes shape like the main character ;) Let me know what you think. Is it okay like this? Has anything caught your attention that I could improve? All advice is welcome;) I am sending youtube link below:

Hello.
I'm sending the latest test video from Child of the Damned (LuboneSoft). At the demonstration stage, I placed randomly created villains. I gave them natural movements.

Bugs and problems detected:
1. After an enemy attack, the heroine slips to the edge of the screen,
2. With 3-4 enemies on the screen, the animation slows down strongly,
3. Death of the heroine while moving left causes the game to crash, a reset is necessary. The problem does not occur when moving to the right.
4. I didn't implement the enemy's rotation towards the heroine. I haven't figured out how to do it yet ...

If you know how to deal with the above problems, let me know ... I will be grateful. Wait ... let me know what you think about the enemies;) Greetings to everyone!

Cool demonstration stage, problem 2 is just an issue with how the object system was written as it was mainly their to be used for mystic shearches and mystic origins adventure games but the causes slow down when their are more then la few enemy’s as the object system has to slow down the game so it can “comprehend” everything that’s going on

Thank you Logana, I will try to fix it. I have some ideas on how to do it ... I don't know if I can improve the object system at the moment ... I don't think my skills are enough...

Update: New animations for "no movement" and "damage" of the heroine have been added. The heroine's jump has been corrected, a lighter press of A causes a lower jump, a longer press causes a higher jump. Created spriteHUD, script rewritten to contain 3 pictograms of life, 5 pictograms of health, 5 pictograms of special weapons. One more parameter will be added. An ordinary weapon was created - "skull throw", a special weapon - "crossbones throw" was created. The missiles fall to the ground and roll for a while. Power-ups were created: "painkillers" and "bone supply". The script was rewritten so that 1 powerup of "painkillers" increased health by 1, and 1 powerup of "bone reserve" increased the number of crossbones to the maximum - 5. Fixed "recoil" after enemy attack and added flickering during heroine damage. "Jump through patforms" added. Villain rotation implemented. Most bugs have been fixed, but there is still an animation slowdown bug to fix, which will take a little longer to fix. Soon I will be able to start building individual levels.

The Story: Evil is rampant in the world. The heroine is sent on a mission to stop the summoned dead. Her only weapons are scattered around the SKULL AND BONES !!!

Thanks to everyone from the forum who gave me help and advice!!!

Below I am sending a test video:

Hey Lubone! Everything is looking great! Super jealous of your jump animation... you have no idea... XD

Have you consider giving your character an outline so her legs pop when she runs across a building?

Hi JollyShadow! Thanks for kind words! :)

The jump animation is one frame obtained from the running animation frames. However, the running animation required more work and analysis of the running phases ;)

The outline of the heroine's legs is to be considered ... I will see how it will look compared to other levels :)

Hi. I'm sending a new movie from "Children of the Damned"(LuboneSoft). I presented in it recently created:
- title screen,
- introduction screen,
- level 1-1 screen,
- a piece of level 1-1.

As you may have noticed the title screen contains very important information ... "Child of the Damned" will be a series of games!!!

I am asking for your opinions and possibly help in solving the problem that can be seen at the beginning of the transition to the level: the heroine is in pieces...
Thank you and greetings to everyone !!!

Today I present a completely new level of Child of the Damned (LuboneSoft) game: "BLACKROCK - DARK FOREST". I reproduced the background of a mountainous forest at night with great accuracy. I made graphics of trees, mushrooms and stone blocks.

The demo version will contain level 1 (BLACKROCK) divided into three stages:
- VILLAGE
- GRAVEYARD
- DARK FOREST

A big novelty is the new skill of the heroine - climbing (ladders, trees, ropes, chains, etc.). I made a quite natural animation, but at the moment I don't know how to stop the climbing animation (1:05) - to be solved. Maybe some of you could help? :)

The Story: The heroine makes her way through the corners of the dark forest. Death lurks in the bushes. Tall trees are the only escape route. But are trees really safe?

Thanks! From the demo area, level 1-2 (Graveyard) remains to be developed. There is still a lot to do here, to organize it so that everything fits together. But on this night I see the light of day on the horizon ;)
