Coronavirus

Hello, just popping in to say I hope everyone is well and staying safe. My writing group has been perking up (online), lots of people on Twitter are plotting creative projects, and NESmaker itself is coming up on an update; not to divert from the seriousness of the pandemic, but I am curious if anyone is getting a big burst of NESmaking done! (I'm not, but I am pushing through on a novel and a card game came to me in traffic...)

Anyway, couldn't find anywhere better to post this, and again - hope all are well, and stay that way.

I wanted to pop in also and shine some hope out for folks. When I was 21, I got in some trouble. It led to an incarceration sentence of 7.5 years. During that time, for survival of the mind, I needed activity. The memories of the life I was away from seriously could jump in and make an Okay moment bad. The anxiety of anticipating a distant date for freedom again did just the same. I want to share how I managed to get through, as it relates to our world now. Make a routine. Don't worry too much about strictness of time. For example, I had to have a minor surgery during my sentence, and during the post-op, I was in mandatory medical segregation. I made a request for some of my gaming items to have during post-op, and had a general routine that carried me through 14 days. Don't worry about what got left behind for now, it is fine to look forward to better times, but please remember that you can help make things better now. Avoid negative news channels, and share positivity. With the internet at our fingertips, pick something to learn about. Do like we did in the 00s when "unlimited after 9pm" calls became a thing and just chain some digits together and see if they answer and talk. It is all about distracting yourself from things you aren't able to affect but remaining active.
I am five years outside those fences now. As of today, I spent 1/4 of my life creating myself better. It feels so far away, and honestly is a strange thing to say was survived. The same with what has gone on this year. In only 19 more years, WW2 will have been an entire Century ago. Patience can win it out, faster than it even seems. Stay strong, and keep your heads held up friends. I look forward to jamming some NES development on the other side of this!
