Festino the Urgeosaur
Is in a hurry

Why? What's going on?
Should we worry?

Let him run, let him jump,
Let's not get in his way,

Or else he might be late...

*-*-*

Festino's Dino Dash is (going to be) a NESMaker game, based on the Arcade Platformer module. You control the protagonist, Festino, with a single button. Press A to jump and Festino will run and won't stop until an obstacle blocks the way. Also, Festino is able to wall jump, slide down walls and even tear down some walls by collecting claws. These abilities will help Festino on a quest to... whatever the rush is for, no one knows yet.

Unfortunately, some pesky little creatures will stand in its way. There's Andrago the flying dragon, Tricky the trampling triceratops, Eggbert the dino turret, and quite a few more somewhat annoyed animals in the Jurassic kingdom. Let's see if Festino can overcome all obstacles!

There's still a lot of work to do. Like make cave graphics, design and implement additional enemies and bosses, come up with ideas for worlds 3 and 4, compose missing sound tracks, add sound effects... I will use this thread as a progress log and update whenever something new and exciting happens during game development.

Here's a minor update!

I've added the cave tileset. It's not complete yet, but I've got enough to work with for now.

Also, I've made the music for the boss fights in the game.
The first boss I'm going to implement is the caveman, who is angry at Festino for entering his cave without permission.

I also did some music for the cave levels, but I decided to scrap this because it didn't fit the game or the setting enough to my taste, so I will be redoing that one later.

I really like the cave background, you have a very interesting art style, really like it and I love the color choices to, the cut song could definitely be used for a cutscene or something though, it sounds really good with the “Paramid” lietmotif

Another day, another minor update! Here's a short progress demo video.

It features Eggbert (the Dino Turret), Tricky (the Trampling Triceratops) and Andrago (the Flying Dragon).

Next up on the to do list, I'm gonna try to get the Caveman boss fight working.

*Edit: re-reading that, it ~sounds~ sarcastic... But I assure you it's not. That is an awesome new title screen.

It's looking really great.
Music is bit odd since it has this "action;ish" beginning and then the song just takes a completely different turn from how I expected it to continue.

That's a valid point, I agree entirely. It was intended as a placeholder track, should've replaced that before posting the video but I guess I got too eager on sharing progress :)

I was planning on creating assets for the swamp area, ended up creating some concept art instead.
