Forum Mod

I still think we could really use another forum mod to help with all the new folk pouring in. Someone who has a decent idea of the tools mechanics and is available. Issue is some of the forums staples have been dropping off the face of the earth lately and moving on to other things and it's leaving a huge gap that Dale can not handle on his own. I'm sure his has enough on his plate as a family man.

If the problem is adding new people that Joe or Red aren't familiar with, a decent solution might be a new category of mods that work under Dale. Perhaps less permissions or something? That way you wouldn't have to worry about them messing anything up. That way enough people are available for helping the new folk in here.

I'd be happy to do it but then enters the question who is responsible for doing what and when. This topic has come up before so I'm guessing they're happy to just add words to block list etc as they come up. It seems like a lot of work for 1 person to keep upto everyday and kicking bots out is pointless, there will be a millions more. I honestly don't know if having more and more mods is the answer here.

Honestly, if it were my decission I'd use NM software key as a requirement to be unlocked for posting messages. Anyone thinking about buying NM can still view all the posts, just not add anything.

Well, not just for the bots but I think the constant stream of new folk and questions are reason enough for another mod.

I approached Red about helping out but for whatever reason he didn't seem all that keen about the idea. I honestly don't care who gets the job so as long as someone does.

I'm not on many forums so I don't know if its normal or not. Whatever is in place to automatically block isn't very effective.
Even something like, if the first message from a new user has a link they should be verified. If the prevention was better there would be no need for anyone else. In fairness I don't think there's much going on in that respect apart from blocking certain words.

Last I spoke with Red he said he was putting something in to help stop the spam. It seemed it was doing okay for a little while there but it's definitely gotten out of hand recently. I'm sure with the next update they'll do something to the forums aswell... I hope at the very least.

Speaking for myself, I have to power on tools here. I can only delete messages, ban people (or IPs...).
All the power is in the hands of Joe Alonzo (@RadJunk), here. He is the Admin.

Yeah, we knew that. I've tried talking to Radjunk about it before but he seemed leery against it for some reason.

How often do you usually have to ban / delete messages? Is it a daily thing or just every now and then when there's an outbreak?
