Same boat my friend!
One of the biggest things that has help me learn over the last week was downloading notepad++
The other thing I have been doing is learning to backup my scripts so that I can test things without breaking the whole system. I have been slowly taking my new scripts and directing NESMaker to look them up instead of the default ASM.

Welcome, Kanbei85!

Yeah, learning ASM has it's challenges, but luckily the internet happened and we have tons of resources for reference. NESMaker helps with a mess of the code, but you really should learn a bit to help yourself fix/maintain/perfect your game. The forums are your absolute BEST resource, with Joe's vids in 2nd , and the NES-Dev Wiki in 3rd..
Rock-On!
