Nice Im working on a Game for my son I cant wait till he gets older he just turned 4

Awesome!
Yeah, 4 is a little early to make games but he can start playing some easy games for kids.. then at 5 (or 5 half) he can stat making his own games with your help (designing objects and screens... and graphics maybe)

My son made his first game, KUBO, at the age of 5 and half: http://www.nesmakers.com/viewtopic.php?p=9262

Hey, this was great!

I just beat it. It was a little unforgiving (thank goodness for save states) but it got a bit easier when I found the gun!
The water level reminded me of Ninja Turtles/Donkey Kong. I liked that a lot of the enemies were present in the castle, even the sharks. Those lava sharks killed me several times, btw.
Raftronaut did a great job on the music too! I really liked the sky land theme.

It's super awesome that you were able to do this with your son. He will have it forever and the experience may inspire him to continue investing in creative outlets.

Thank you Elerath :)
Yeah, sometimes it's difficult, Seiji (my son) wanted it that way. The gun helps a lot (when you have it, you can find "hearts" and even "lives" hidden on the overworld).
Strategically, some levels are easier than others... so when you finished those, you have enough hearts and lives to do the other ones (the sky one is the most difficult, for me... also, the Castle).

Raft's OST <3

Yeah, definitely , a great experience for my son, he will always remember it. He loved that so much, creating a game.

When he was creating "KUBO 2" for the NESmaker Byte-Off 2019 competition, my son had lots of ideas that he would have liked to incorporate into his entry game. However, due to lack of time, he wrote everything down and told me that it would be for the next game... that how was created KUBO 3.

The game takes up the adventures of the cowboy turtle where the previous episode ended. The Evil Mole kidnapped the villagers... and Kubo will have to find 4 sacred objects in order to free them.

It took my son Seiji almost a year to make this game. As usual, we mostly worked on it for a few days during school holidays or on rainy weekends.
He wanted to finish it before our February vacations because he wanted to hand it to Joe Granato, the creator of NESmaker (on a short trip to Florida for a few days).

That's so awesome that you are making games with your son. Are you gonna teach him how to use the tools?

Yeah, he learned using NESmaker, 2 years ago... (While creating "KUBO" 1).
Now, he uses tool to draw all the tile sets, create the objects, design the screens, .... and I help him for a few specific technical things (like the HUD, the action steps...). He is still learning, each time we work with NESmaker.

Just finished, pretty awesome game.
I really liked all the variety of gameplay (reminded me of zelda 2), like underwater and bouncy clouds. glad i had that map to help out with placments. I rely liked the zombie spawn animation, was super surprised when I saw them come out of the ground.
the ingame cut scenes realy impress me too.
Well done.

I just wanted to comment on how awesome it is that you got to make a game with your boy. My son doesn't have much interest in retro-gaming, does like card games, I'm just happy I got him interested in something other then Fortnite to be honest. Anyhow, the game looks great! Where can I find Kubo 1 & 2?
