Here is the alpha demo for my game Muck Sunflower Escape From Bot Planet. Its a maze type game made off the Maze Module. You are Space Adventurer Muck Sunflower. Your ship has crashed. The hole in the hull dumped your repair supplies. They are scatter all accost the planet. If you wanna fix your ship and get home you have to collect as many screws, bolts, tools and batteries as you can. The only problem is the indigenous life forms think your a dangerous invader. You see repair parts. They see robot food. Dodge the bots get the parts keep moving and you might make it. Its nothing fancy but I made it. Except of course the TUTORIAL SOUND PACK which I used. Just a temporary place holder. Next step is crafting my own music and sound effects. That sound pack is pretty awesome though so it deserves a shoutout! If you play it Id appreciate your feed back good or bad all in the sake of improving the game. I know it needs work but it plays and I think its fun enough to share.

INSTRUCTIONS: Controls are use the D pad to move. Collect the items to increase your score. Flower pots are continue points, you must touch the tile(currently no sound effect). There are no environmental hazards. Anything that moves will kill you if it touches you. The last level has the rocket and a rabbit wearing a flower pot. Press A or B to talk to him. The rabbit is the only character you can talk to. His name is Mr. B. He is Mucks copilot and engineer. 80 screens of game play.

Nice demo! I like the color scheme, it's almost vaporwavy :) I didn't survive long enough to meet mister B yet, I'm gonna give it another shot.

Is there (going to be) a use for the collected repair parts, or are they just to rack up some points? Or will Mr.B answer this question for me?

Can't wait to hear what you come up with for the music and sound effects! I feel like I've heard the default sound pack a few times too often by now XD

Thank you for playing. Parts and such are just for points. I think when I finish the game in the credits I'll have a page that's like 10000 points barely make it home 15000 point make it home and ship will still work 20000 points you make it home and brought everyone souvenirs. Something goofy to keep people chasing that hi score. That's all this one is. I plan to make my next one an adventure game in this "universe".
Mr. B for now is there just to end the demo. In the final game he'll be inside the ship and there will be a few tutorial/exposition type screens with him to start the game. Maybe he will pop up more if people like him.
I'm struggling what to make the final end. I think I wanna have a big enemy Muck's gotta run past and hit a button to kill the final boss sorta thing. Then few screens to give the story an end. But then I'm torn between does this sorta game need all that? Pacman doesn't have an end.
Is it too difficult? I haven't been able to complete a full run. It definitely needs some 1ups. I increased the players speed to what it is now to make it easier once in development. I could notch it up 2 more possibly or drop certain monsters speeds.

Thanks again for playing and the feedback.

The graphics look nice. I felt like it was easy, and i had no ambition to keep collecting items.
I understand that its for a high score buuuuut maybe make it add seconds to a time limit.
Untill you run out of batteries for air or something. That way i need and maybe want to collect atleast the bateries.
It would be much funner i think. That way its a race against death and adds tension.
Also your ideas for points and different ratings/endings is great. So maybe bolts n stuff do that, but batteries add to air/time supply.
I enjoyed it alright as is though, well done.

My suggestion... You should add screenshots or gameplay video of your game... it would help convincing people to try it.

Thank you playing and I appreciate your honest feed back. I definitely agree with the lack of tension and drive. It needs something to push the player to take risks. The battery time limit is a cool idea. I'm not sure how to pull that off yet but its something to shoot for. I also considered making Mr B show up occasionally and be like ok I fixed this now I need 1000 points to fix the next thing to advance.

You make an excellent point. Thanks for the tip :)

I agree with mouse spirit in that it need some sort of other game mechanic. When playing I didn't feel any need to collect things and dodging enemy's wasn't enough to keep me interested. If there was a clear objective like "collect 1000 parts", then it's a nice challenge as some can be harder to get to than others.

Not trying to knock it, what you've gone so far is excellent. Just some honest feedback.

I definitely dont take it as a knock. Thank you for playing and providing constructive feed back. I've been kinda stuck what to do past this point. I've gotten some great feedback that I think will help me push forward. I think it comes down to it needs stakes and story. Maybe it should be more of an adventure game then a maze.

Final version of the Alpha build. Not longer but simplified the collectables. Balanced a few of the tuff spots with enemies. Made sure there were continue spots every 10 screens-ish. Added extra lives(they look like the player). If you get to the end Id like to know you score. I'm already well into my beta version of the game but wanted to share this cleaned up version of the alpha.

Wow, this would have been perfect for me, i already played and took screenshots before seeing this convenient
post! i loved playing again though. The colors and enemies are great. Shoot me ideas or wants/limitations for what we talked about. I have ideas I'm gonna work on.
As i said the art i do is expressive, but no problem with a few guidelines/restrictions.
