I can appreciate the fun and effort put into this, but...
Why wouldnt they submit any finished games and demos from the retroverse to these publishers?
(I mean if anyone wants to.)
If they expect these newly made games to be finished, they will have to wait like 2 years, if they ever get
finished... realistically.
But i hope this is true, fun, and helps people here be successful in what theyve maybe dreamt of doing.

Revival of the NES? We have to Resuscitate a NES that was buried in the ground? What the hell is the meaning of the theme?

We're four days in already? Time really flies!
I think I'm still on schedule to have my entry done before the submission deadline though =] Fingers crossed!

What are the rules? I know in the past they went by Nintendo's rules they had for licensed games for the original NES. I assume it's a little more liberal this year since they weren't mentioned, is that correct?

Also, does everything have to be made from scratch or is it okay to use premade assets you have the rights to?

I think the same rules apply.
Premade assets should be fine, I guess... (same for the music) But you will HAVE to mention the original creator of those in the game infos when submitting the game. (there will be a form to fill for that)

What are the rules with game submissions? I have already released Deth Complex 2 to the public, so can I submit it to the Byte-off? Or does that disqualify it?

As explained at the end of the video, the entry game has to be created during the byte off competition window. You can NOT submit a game that has been started prior to the byte off.

The long term games (all other games made with nesmaker) will have another event to spotlight them.

Got it, cool that there is another event! I want to show off this masterpiece I made (Deth Complex 2). Thanks Dale!

What do you have in mind?
Well, given the timeframe, definitely something simple.
I'm a seasoned developer, but this would be my first time with NESMaker (usually work with VS + Monogame), so I got to be realistic about the scope.
I'm very confortable in ProMotion, so I could most likely do the graphic side of things without problem, and then see how I can help in-engine.
Like I said, I work in a AAA studio, so I'm not totally oblivious to the process, but this has nothing to do with the pipeline I'm used to!
More than willing to give it a serious shot, tho.

Just send the word if this speaks to you, we'll find some other channels of communication to discuss further, if you so wish

Very excited about this event. My co-conspirator and I were introduced to NESMaker at the Long Island Retro EXPO 2 weekends ago and currently hashing out our game. Super fun, very excited to have NESMaker. Makes me almost wish I didn't spend last year trying to tame 6502 assembly LOL. Can't wait to see what we all come up with!

Cheers!

I've been marathoning the development of my My entry and is almost feature complete! lots of debugging and testing to go.

if there are any musically inclined people who don't already have a game to enter, I'd love to hear from you!

Really what you've learned through your studies and experiments will help you make advanced changes or enhancements to your NESmaker game so that knowledge won't go to waste.
