Rob's Epic Quest (Platform Sidescroller Development) Thread

Hi all. Just want to announce my project - "Robs' Epic Quest" which I'm currently working on.
Development is going pretty good I'd say as I dive deeper into the NESMaker editor :)

I'm hoping to get this game completed and hopefully meet new fellow NESMaker users on here.

The game is about a character named "Robert" who has lost a valuable item which he needs to recover.
So he embarks on a journey of dodging dogs, chickens and hooligans. Jumping over hazardous obstacles in good ol' Dallas Texas.

So far on the synopsis of this game lol.

I'm planning to have it span around 8-ish? Levels.
  1. Your score system is about collecting the 'Monies'
  2. And your main weapon is footballs
  3. You collect random coffee (Health to keep you going) placed in the levels as you advance through the game.
  4. If you get hit too many times, well it's game over.
Whether I will build a 'continue system' is yet to be determined. So let's see how the progression of this project goes. I consider it learning a experience and a stepping stone to big and better things.

I might also be streaming on twitch as I work on it every once in a while. So if you're interested in following my projects, and future projects.
Hit up my twitch sometime - www.twitch.tv/jshrapnelc
I really, really appreciate the follows and viewers. And I mostly play FPS, RPGS and retro stuff.
So we can discuss NESMaker and other things on there. I'm also an aspiring artist/2d pixel artist who studies several courses and practices as often as I can.

I also am the creator a a MASSIVE Fallout 4 DLC sized mod called Northern Springs. You can check that out here - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/32911

And I'm happy to have discovered NESMaker from a Facebook ad (I kid you not) which was actually the bump I needed to get me inspired to work on some new projects. I have several of them on hold, which I think I can realize now with the proper tools and knowledge.

So here are some pictures so far of "Rob's Epic Quest".

Hope you guys dig it so far. I'm gonna get this done!

If you'd want hit me up on Discord as well, I run a fairly larger channel with other 400 users in it. It's all on my twitch, so Hope to hear back from you guys.
I'm going to try to be a regular here! Same name as on here - jshrapnelc

This is my thread to document the growth of this project. And hopefully gain your interest!
Here is a video of me playing a little bit of what I've created so far.

Cheers
Just call me - JShraps.

Interestingly enough, graphics makes me think of old MS-DOS EGA games.
I wish you a good luck with the project's progress.

Isn't NESMaker related. But I did a stream this morning of myself drawing Venom. It's a fairly lengthy stream, but I had fun doing it!

If you want to watch the process. I was using a program called Krita. I bring this up because, I'm probably going to use some of this to draw my cutscenes. Though it is still early in the development. Maybe someone can find the video useful on how to build and refine a drawing from beginning to end.

Stilol got the coloring phases to go, but this was fun!

I think a timelapse might be in order. I'll get to that later.

Small update to Rob's Epic Quest, here's the theme song.
Been taking a break from NESMaker to do other things. Been studying some Blender and working on other projects.
In the meantime here's the theme tune called - 'I Don't Play Video Games'
Inspired by the fact that I notice: people who don't play video games.. act generally much more miserable. Hehe.

Theme Tune.
