As a critic, I'm just going to be completely honest, here. And I'm not going to be nice about it. I ABSOLUTELY HATE Sirvenge!
In this game, you play as a man whose wife has been taken away by a thug, and you have to kill his minions to reach and save her. As you continue through the game, your score slowly increases, the longer you play. Think of it like a stopwatch. This experience wants to challenge you to finish quickly; to get the lowest score possible. But you're not likely to accomplish a low score, given the frustratingly difficult gameplay. And no joke, it had me RAGING!
The music and sound effects are actually lazily re-used from the developer's rather acclaim-worthy "Wacko," which I found somewhat distracting. Some mechanics are not properly introduced, which adds to the urgency in a flawed manner. You can't move diagonally, unlike your enemies, which is unfair. The collision detection is not what I would want it to be. You die if your head touches fire, but I would rather have the hitbox below the character's head for top-down perspective reasons. Often times, you beat an enemy and get close to the exit, only to run out of time in that level and be forced to start it over again. But the absolute WORST part of the gameplay is how you have to rapidly mash the B button! I get that some developers like to challenge their players by having them mash the buttons rapidly, but that always causes me pain for my arm as I hold the controller down against my desk! (This game did include a unique R.C. car mechanic which could have been executed better without the button-mashing.) At the end of the game, my final score was at least 10,000 points, but it says that getting below 2,000 points is true vengeance. I get what the developer wants to do; to add replay value to encourage players to try and finish more quickly if they decide to play again. But as far as replay value goes for me here, there is none. It's not worth the anger.
In conclusion, getting below 2,000 points is not what I would call true vengeance. But rapidly firing bullets at this game, now THAT would be true vengeance!
Final Score: 3.25/10
