Smelly games

Hi,

since I found NESmaker my love for NES games got rekindled and I've started collecting NES games again.
Now I got some games that have that musty cellar smell, you know what I mean?

Does anybody of you have a tip how the get that smell out of the cardboard of game boxes (without damaging the box of course ;-) )?

Air and time is best. But No.Maybe rice or... ciggarettes?(joke) Actually transfering the smell may work.Like kinda wrap in a fluffy towel and maybe some will just come off of it onto the cloth. Then wash the cloth. That may take a long time and not do much. The towel could smell nice to start.

More or less leaving it out in the air for extended periods of time will eventually make the smell go away.

Ozone generator maybe. It did wonders for removing pet smell before an open house when my wife was a realtor.

I've found smoking heavily around my 2nd-hand possessions pretty much neutralizes any prior odors they may have emitted. If that's not your style, you can try storing them with desiccant or scented dryer-pearls for a few weeks. That'll pull the "funk" out without damaging anything (plastics/metal/PCB's alike).
