SysOp Simulator

Working on a concept of how the menu system, logic, and screen progressions would work for a BBS SysOp Simulator game.

Basically, when powering on the game, player is shown a non-controllable dial up terminal looking screen with modem commands like you are dialing into a BBS with simulated dialup modem connection noises.

Player is then presented with a BBS style login menu with options to login or disconnect.

If user selects disconnect, they are taken back to the dialup terminal with modem hangup commands and a blinking cursor. Player has to reset the game to restart.

If player chooses to login, they are able to access a Renegade BBS "style" looking menu system where they are able to see stats about recent connection activity, data files, new users, available storage free space, etc.

Player is able to take x number of actions per day and try to make their BBS a profitable business by bringing in new subscribing users while managing different elements of running a BBS like bills, equipment failure (rare event), advertising, available system storage free space, etc.

Player has access to system management menu where they are able to upgrade system components like storage drives, # of modems, # of phone lines, software upgrades like board games, etc when affordable.

Player has access to purchase and play a couple different playable very simple board door games similar to BRE, Usurper, slots, or others. (concept dev)

After player has consumed available actions and ends the day a Daily News Bulletin type screen pops up to show you what activity changes occurred for the previous day and random events like system component failures. Stats on main BBS menu will be updated and number of available daily SysOp actions will be reset.

Player will have to manage the board well while growing in user count while not running out of money. Trick will be to not upgrade the system too fast while still keeping bills and system costs manageable while you slowly try to increase your user count and bank balance while dealing with system component failures and other possible events.

If player gets to x # of users , x # of modems and phone lines, x # of BBS upgrades like board games, and bank balance of $x, they win the game and become the most popular BBS in the land.

If the player runs out of money and/or available free space, they lose the game and have to shutdown the BBS.

Yes, I know this is going to be a pain in the ARSE and I'm likely doing it all by scratch but it's going to be hella fun to pull off.

For now, this is concept only. If anyone would like to help out with it, let me know.
