I'm the supreme master at missile command so this should be a walk in the park. You could put some birds flying over too to add variety.

Ha! You will definitely destroy this level then for sure. This stage will be in 3 phases.. each one will get harder.. Was thinking of having bad guys parachuting from the sky too.

Been taking a break from the development of this game. My head felt like it was going to explode being consumed by trying to figuring everything out and being stuck on little things. I’ll be back soon. Just needed to step away and refresh so I can be excited about working on it again. Still hoping for completion by the end of the year.

Hello everybody! I promise I didn’t forget!

Bad news: I obviously didn’t finish the game in 2021.

Good news: With each NESMaker homebrew I’ve done.. Carpet Shark, Plummet Challenge Game, and the new secret project.. I’ve learned so much and I feel like I can finally take The Excitables on! I’m actually surprised I got as far as I did with such little knowledge at the time. I’m going to finish my newest game and come back to this one after. Now to try to edit all of my headache of code?.. or start from scratch? That is the question. We will see on day 1 when I’m back.

June 2022 is when i'll be directing all of my nesdev time to this project again 🙌

I'm really excited to come back to it. I feel like i've grown as a developer and so has @Logana with his musicianship! He re-did the entire soundtrack! It sounds incredible.

I AM going to completely start the code from scratch again. It's the only way to do it. My approach is completely different thanks to all the lessons i've learned through my mistakes, this board, and especially through @dale_coop. He is such an amazing help here.

I also have new ideas I want to implement into the game to spice it up.

Be back very soon.

Hello friends!

I have not officially started yet as I’m promoting the heck out of The Arm Wrestling Classic at the moment, but I’m brainstorming!

Soon I will get the project setup so I can have as much free space empty as possible in my banks and have a clear system of each flag and userbyte so I don’t forget which ones I’ve used already.

I want to take my time with this one. I would spend every free moment I could get with my previous projects. Carpet Shark took 2 months, Plummet Challenge Game took 2.5 months, and The Arm Wrestling Classic took a shade over 3 months… and The Excitables has been in development hell since right after Carpet Shark.

The plan is to get all of the basics in first. Get it to where I originally planned and add as I go. No rush for anything this time around. I have 3 games out already.. I just felt like I had something to prove with each one like I knew I could do better than my last effort. We all have these massive ideas in our minds.. but to implement them into an nes game is the real challenge!

Be back with updates once I start getting the project setup!

Officially made a new project to start from. Freed up space in my last bank, setup userBytes, animated tiles, and split monsters into two banks thanks to the forum's tutorials. I will forever do that as the base to each project from now on.

Also put in the asm file of @Logana's updated music and sfx.

Next is to bring in the sprites from the previous project file and setup the screens.

A small start! Baby steps. Taking my time.
