What other "console maker" would you like?

You wouldn't HAVE to make better graphics (just look at any of the retro games on Steam), but you would be able to.

Yes, but I'll bet everything I have people would complain it looks like a NES game. So, while I'm very restricted by the NES limitations it also frees me, because my artistic abilities are slightly above those limits (at least that's what I believe).

I'm the same way, however I believe that without limitations, I would "grow into" the capabilities of the newer system.

Megadrive/genesis, as it has a much faster cpu and I think we'd be able to squeeze alot more goodness out of it. The only reason I'd want SNES is to make mode-7 games, which would be amazing. I'd love to see someone make a game like Assault. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6buBpXy6uUQ

I actually started a “game maker” for the Commodore 64 about 8 years ago. However, life got in the way and I lost interest. I’ve debated bringing it back to life.

This seems promising https://github.com/wiz-lang/wiz
I hope a community springs up around it as well

All of them lol, but early 3d ones would be good n64 / ps1, and bit random but Philips cd-i. My feinds working on a dreamcast engine but not gona be all nice editor and stuff :(.

There seems to be a GameBoy one (sorry if I missed it skimming the thread) https://blog.adafruit.com/2019/04/19/gb-studio-a-drag-and-drop-game-boy-game-maker-for-windows-mac-and-linux-opensource-gameboy-nintendo-maltby/

Now we just need SNES to complete the Trinity, and I add to the dark horse support for TurboGrafx 16.

This is based more off of nostalgia, but I would personally like a Gameboy maker.

I just don't have any special connections with the SNES, and probably wouldn't care much for a SNES Maker.

I want a gameboy/gameboy color maker, i know theres gb studio, but its pretty limited in terms of games, only top down rpg with no battles and just simple push block puzzles and npcs.

I think there should be a master system maker. It would probably be harder to do due to the homebrew scene for the system being pretty small compared to the nes, but if it could be done it would be very flexible especially with its bigger color pallete and expanded memory, but a genesis maker would be nice too, and one that makes games for both the master system and genesis, and possibly even the sg-1000 would help people like me who like to make games but dont have much coding knowledge, and for people that do have the knowledge make homebrew games easier and for more systems.

Wow, this is an old topic. Before I started using NesMaker.

There was a video a while back from Joe about SNES Maker. Sounds like he wanted to join forces and collab with someone doing a similar project but they declined.
No idea if he's still working on a SNES maker. Given the amount of work he's still putting into NesMaker I'd guess probably not.
