Adventure Module Tutorial Issues - Invincible Slime?

Hello all,

I'm going through the tutorials step-by-step in the videos. I'm doing the tutorial for the adventure module and it appears my Slime are invincible. Regardless of how many times they are hit, they never go away. And in the tutorial video they are gone in 2 hits.

A couple of other problems are the sword never appears in my HUD like it does in the video and the sword stays on the screen for an extra second or so after I swing the sword. I can walk away from it before it disappears or I can swing again in a different direction.

  • Invincible Slime
  • Sword does not appear in HUD
  • Sword does not go away after swung immediately.
Thanks!

The slime is not invincible... It just takes 256 hits =] To fix that, you need to set the object's health to a value above zero (Joe forgot to show this in the video tutorial). Select the slime, click "Object Details" and then the "Details" tab and you'll find the health input field. The number of health the slime gets is the number of hits it'll take to kill it.

Not sure what's up with the sword not appearing in the HUD though. Also, I know there's a fix for the sword, but I'll have to look that up as I don't know exactly what the fix was from the top of my head.

That's it!! Thank you. All these settings I'm getting into. This is fun!.

I also adjusted the timer for the sword since it was staying on the screen for too long.

I haven't figured out why it's not in the HUD yet.

Make sure your sword object is set to "player weapon" also that your slime monster's action step 7 (the "hurt" state) is correctly set to "GotoFirst" after a timer of "1" (or "2" is you want a longer hurt state).
