Scrooge's pogo cane attack/higher jump?

For the past few months or so I've been making a platformer akin to ducktales in collectables, visuals, and partial in gameplay. Since I got NESmaker I decided to transition the project over to give it more authenticity as before I was trying to mimic the NES' limitations.

With that much said, I was curious if anyone knows how to get an attack similar to this working, as i don't just want the character to jump on enemies with their standard jump to destroy them. (I should also mention i have that set up and just walking into the enemies kills them as if they were jumped on.)

Well that solves that issue!

As for the main topic to this thread, would the pogo attack be considered a melee weapon?
if so could the melee function be utilized to do the same thing.

Yes, you should try with the melee. It might work.
