I know it's not recent, but a lot people never heard about it, so...
"Diggin 'in the Carts" is a very cool documentary series (of 6 episodes) focused on the men and women who created the music in some of the most famous and innovative games :

Haven't watched the vid but I love that picture. I miss those Akihabara gaming stores. A lot of them are starting to convert to anime trinket stores or not carrying as many classic games. It was always fun wandering through one and picking out some carts I'd never seen before and trying them out.

Love this documentary series, it’s about video games music, Japan and classic games.
Mihoshi, are you japanese ? (I know your name is, but sometimes nicknames are far from the reality ;))

Nah, just your average weeaboo for the most part, Visited japan a time or two though but it's been a few years. Hoping to go back soon as it's always a fun trip to make.

So you’re a Japanophile. Yeah Akihabara is quite eccentric and interesting for video games lovers. But small classic arcade places become rare.
I went there some times too.
Like you, I hope I can go back there soon (always things to see).

Used to be a good number of years ago, not as much anymore but the culture still fascinates me, ever since like 5th grade and it never fully went away. It's still a nice place to visit though, not just for the cities but I also enjoy the countryside and small towns too, especially the koi farms.
