how to link .asm files to a text editor?

when ever i try to edit the scripts a window pops up and says
Error opening .asm file, Please ensure that the .asm files are linked to the
editor of your choice.
no application is associated with the specifide file for this operation
i have no clue how to link .asm files to a text editor so i need alittle help

I would go ahead and download notepad ++. Once you have that, you can just open the files directly from notepad++ to do the edits.

okay i downloaded notepad++ but how would you open the script or .asm files directly

If you have downloaded and installed Notepad++ then Windows should recognize that the .asm files should be opened in Notepad++. After a successful installation you should be able to double click the .asm files and they automatically open in Notepad++.

Else in the Windows Explorer double click on a .asm script and chose to open ith Notepad++ (and set the "Always use this app to open .asm files")
