... to all those who are here to welcome the newcomers. I look forward to getting acquainted with the people of this community. Game development is something I've secretly wanted to get into, and I'm happy such a tool exists along with a lively community around it.

Hey @DarkHalation
Glad to have you here with us.
NESmaker is a great tool to start making NES games. Make sure to follow ALL the tutorial videos:
(you can skip the "beginner" ones, you won't learn anything new from them).

The forum is the perfect place for community tutorials, scripts, resources, help, answers to your questions.
Also check the Discord server (use the search function of the forum to find the link to it ;))
Have fun!

Thank you Dale!

I'm currently following the summer camp tutorial lessons, as I have some basic familiarity with how 6502 ASM works. Previously I had been interested in making games for C64, but later found NES to be more approachable with a tool like NESmaker, and the active community here. After I finish this course I'll try out each of the different modules.

As for Discord, they seem to be unreasonably(IMO) picky about how people do their 2FA. I would prefer using a key that regenerates every 30 seconds, but they demand a phone number and they won't accept my google phone number. I really wish there were another way to access the Discord server. Perhaps an IRC bridge bot?

Anyway, thanks again for your kind welcome!

Welcome DarkHalation. I think you will find both NESmaker and this community very interesting. NESmaker is so much fun and there are a ton of talented and friendly people here on the forum.

By the way I am working on a C64 game making tutorial series. It's coming on my YouTube channel board-b later this year, in case you're interested.

Oh I'm very interested! I've been making steady progress with the Summer Camp '22 tutorial, and it's been quite fun. It makes me wonder if it's possible to make C64 games in NES maker using a low-level approach, swap the assembler and the emulator so it'll compile and run. But indeed do keep me posted, message a link so I can give your channel a follow! :)
