4.5.9 Continue to start screen

Hey guys, I've done a bunch of the tutorials, but I could not find a place that explains how continue with checkpoints works. The reason I ask is because I want to do the following:

title screen -> cut scene -> start screen (displays level/lives/ect) -> level 1

then if you win:
level 1 -> start screen -> level 2

if you lose:
level 1 -> start screen -> level 1

if you game over:
level 1 -> Game Over -> title screen

You know, Mario style.

Is there a way to put a "set checkpoint and then call warp" into an input script? That way I can just make unique start screens for every level.
