This is the coolest thing ever. I'm excited & overwhelmed all the same time. I'm watching all the tutorials I can and slowly getting an understanding for the basics. Can't wait to create a small game and then gradually get into bigger games.

I have no experience coding. I always wanted to learn though. I used to make "games" in QBasic and many games in Klik N Play/Click N Create/Multimedia Fusion (Or Click fusion whatever they call it now)

Even tired making an NES game in MMF. Made my own music on Famitracker too. Kinda crummy but my first attempt. YouTube playthough if anyone is interested:

This is a whole different monster though. I can't wait dive straight in and learn as much as I can from you cool people.

Also.. Hello.. My name is Steve, i'm 37, & from Pittsburgh.

P.S. Random note.. I watch a lot of these tutorials at work.. like one a day.. i'm on the intermediate metrovania as we speak.. and also have my second download of nesmaker on my work computer so I can practice.. shh don't tell anyone at my job.

Hey Steve, welcome! Watched the play-through! Great level design, there is no way I'd be able to beat that haha I'm horrible at platforming games! Loved the music too, my favorite track was the one used for levels 7.8.9. I look forward to seeing what you'll create!

Thank you! Funny.. a majority of people that played it told me it was too difficult :) I was going for that old school toughness, but I think I went too far. Oooh 7,8, & 9 music. That's actually the only track that I sat down with my guitar and tried to transcribe it on Famitracker. All the other songs I just kinda winged it. Appreciate it!

Have you created something here I can look at too? I'm interested in everybodys works! 🙌

Dude these are awesome. That Molly Game Over is badass and that Generic Mystery has a sweet Friday The 13th vibe.. All of these sound like they should be on NES games. Great job! You're really talented.

Aw shucks thank you! I was surprised how many people liked the Generic Mystery one, I was just trying to make the notes go as quickly as possible and see how It sounded. When I was done I was like... "Yeah someone might like that!"

Today is a good day to join! Welcome to the club. I like your playthroug videoh, it does capture the NES-era style and difficulty perfectly.

It sure is! It's time to make things happen! Thank you! Can't believe that was like 12 years ago when I made that game.. I'm ready to make something so much better. Baby steps first.

Glad you joined us...
NESmaker is a great tool and a lot of members already made awesome projects! Can't wait to see what you will create with NESmaker.
Feel free to share your WIP in the dedicated section.

Also, don't forget to watch the tutorial videos on the official website (if not already done)

Thanks, Dale! Can’t wait too!

Oh yeah.. I’ve been binging through the official tutorials! I made the mistake of starting to watch the YouTube videos of an older version of Nesmaker you guys made a while ago... and was wondering why I couldn’t find anything lol...(I’m sure they’re still helpful of course).. but now I’ve been going through the ones on the “learn” section 🙌🏻

@dale_coop - Oh wow! I completely missed this orientation video. This is a must! Thank you. Gonna watch this whole thing.

@Logana - Those are some great tunes! Very cool. You’re way better at Famitracker than I am. I appreciate what you said about my game. I made it in about a week. I want to take me time on my next big project!

Wow, I feel like a dummy. Before I came to this forum I started right with the tutorials on the Nesmaker website.. which are great tutorials, but I wish I would've started with the link @dale_coop posted in here. I understand so much more now and everything that made me scratch my head in the tutorials is much clearer to me.

So.. bottom line. If you're just starting Nesmaker, watch this FIRST:

I know it's 3 hours but honestly it flies by especially if you're enjoying yourself. Theeeeeen do the website tutorials. It'll make so much more sense to you. Thanks, Dale!
