Played the heck out of the old NES and SEGA consoles, but always got frustrated at the times when I knew the programmer was weak and the game play was unfair or contrived. I think good controls are the key foundation of a game...well of course lol. I'm hoping to have the ability to move sprites around with smooth incremental acceleration, perhaps with a paddle if not. I have a little bit of background on the subject, built an open source software driver for xbox gamepads - to - Windows, and having a wide range of motion (accel/decel) made all the difference. The game I am going to develop is based upon a scavenger hunt that I attended back in the late 1990's. The hunt was based upon finding Byron Preiss at one of the malls listed on the flyer. It basically said, that once you find Byron, then you can continue onward with the scavenger hunt to find the items. The items were promotional items related to books previously published in the early 1980's, and now were being put into digital form, including "The Secret: A treasure hunt" and "Illusion". The Secret was digitized with modern equipment for that time period, the original images were re-scanned and only the original clues approved by Byron and Bantam were allowed. It was published as a Calendar, and the receipt had a charge of zero dollars, free. However, there are 2 extra clues added to the Calendar since the original book printing. They also had pinback buttons with a secret decoder lens, except that the colored lens did nothing, unless you held it a certain distance away, and only in the vertical direction back and forth can the lenticular animation be seen. There were several other items that I'm going to include in the hunt, all based directly on a true story. Not many people know about this in the community surrounding the book.
