I do open source projects for the community and I will continue to do it. You try to milk out every little penny of people not knowing better. Give me the source code to this shit and I will have it up an running for you within a month. Max.

The worst thing Joe could possibly do to this guy is give him the code, and one month, and then tell EVERYONE he just volunteered to do it within that period of time. For free.

He claims he was one of the people behind Nesticle, which is impressive if true, but...one month? With everything? Be careful what you wish for.

I read this quote last night, thought about it, saw it again this morning, and thought about it some more. Here's what I think.
Whoever posted that on YouTube is somewhere between "humble brag" and "arrogant". No one asked for "just give it to me and I'll do everything you can't".
Also, it takes more than just programming skill to make NESMaker. They've also created a good, comprehensive video and Kickstarter campaign, and they know how to manage a large project. I give them a lot of credit just for that, let alone the programming behind NESMaker itself. Ignore that guy and keep up the good work, guys.

Some of the most skilled people don't know how to interact with others. So, even if that guy could whip it out in a month, he isn't someone I'd want to work with or interact with judging by his arrogance/humble bragging and all around asshatery ha. I think Joe and the team are doing extremely well...handling the project, videos/tutorials, managing a Kickstarter and dealing with all the minutia that goes into completing a highly successful Kickstarter project. That doesn't even get into them needing breaks and likely having families and so on.

The thing is... maybe someone else could've made a game engine for the NES that's

1)wrapped in a game maker-like tool
2)moderately modular
2)has a user friendly GUI

...but they didn't.

Second-guessing is easy. Actually conceiving a project seeing it through is hard.

If he’s that good, why does he need the source code. Mr. Bigshot here should be able to do it all from scratch.

Yes, I thought the same. Pretty easy to take a nearly finished product and make some changes here and there and call it a day, but building it from zero is another story.

What NESMaker is doing is rather revolutionary. There have been front end design tools before the likes of Game Maker and many of the sonic rom hacking tools, but the way NESMaker is going about it is what made me really interested in the project. The fact that the tool is being tailored for specific tasks, the modular aspect of it. Something I found very disappointing and lacking in Game Maker, the fact that there were no prebuilt 'modules' for common game types that you could then adapt and redefine into your own unique games. This type of effort takes time and effort and for anyone to think they can just tape and staple code together within a month to do that is not only laughable arrogance but also shoddy programming the likes of LJN.

Since I posted this I've seen worse...I think this is the same guy too. From the "April 10" video:

In August? Because that is what you promised. Remember that I am a backer, and I just want to be assured that my product lives up to my expectations. Is it nice to name your backers as "trolls" ??? I gave you my money and I want to rest assured that my product is as good as you have promised. That is all.

It's not up to you who decide who you beg money from. I realized early that this project would be possible but that it would probably take a lot of longer time than you have been announced. That's all. Just wanted to make my stance clear. You are in no position, nor situation to have an opinion about who is backing you or not. You went to KS to beg for money, and people who saw potential in this software backed you. You should be thankful that people like me and other devs who usually work open source even wanted to back you. You owe us a LOT. So shut the hole, get back to the drawing board and do the WORK for us. That's what we have paid you to do. So do it.

You should be thankful that I give you feedback. I bought your product and now you are my BIATCH. So get back to the drawing board and get this **** up and running. You have until August and if you don't deliver until then, then I will let the rest of the community speak for itself.

Good Lord, what a spoiled brat.

I have nothing but the upmost respect for what Joe and his team have done thus far, and what they aspire to do with NESMaker in the future. Do I expect it to be perfect? Heck no. I honestly don't expect all modules to be delivered and fully operational by August. That's not because I don't have faith in Joe. It's because I'd like to think that I'm a rational human being, and that as time goes on, the system will grow and so will its user base.

If this guy is demanding perfection on time, then he has never created anything worthwhile in his life.

It's actually kinda funny they'd back such a niche product to begin with, probably at the 35$ or less tier maybe and probably just for the satisfaction so they can complain. Even when it's released in august, I expect it to be capable but also very rough around the edges and I for sure don't expect all the modules to be done. It's the first kickstarter I've ever backed and the first I felt was worthy, but I don't expect miracles. Is also why I haven't given much input on the beta. I want to see what it's going to look like in August and also curbing expectations. I hope the best for it and hope it's a huge success as I'd love to see SNESmaker and Genesismaker but game maker sells for several hundreds of dollars for a complete package and has had years of R&D put in... though it barely looked that way for a long time. Thus I'm balancing what I want NESmaker to be in the end with the budget and market also clearly in mind.

I also tend to be a level headed, non-entitled being which is getting less and less these days and as a developer myself understand the balance between vision, reality, and the sacrifice between.

Preach it! I've never seen a crowdfunded campaign launch on time in my life. Maybe it's never happened anywhere.

August would be great but if they can't do it by then I don't care. I'd rather have it be good than rushed.

This guy has been trolling the comment sections of the NESmaker videos for quite a while. Quite a piece of work. Claims to be a backer, but refuses to accept a refund. Claims to be able to finish NESmaker in a month, but doesn't take two months to crowdfund his own NESmaker and make bank by stealing Joe's thunder. He's clearly lying through his teeth.
