Sports Adventure (Working Title)

Hey everyone. I'm new here, and fairly new to NES Maker, but I have been hex editing and messing around with ROMs for as long as I've been using emulators.

I'm far from an expert, but I love NES games and enjoy messing around with them. I amassed a sizable collection as well, much before eBay and all the reselling/price gouging mayhem of modern day.

Anyways, my current project is a top down adventure game.

My vision for the project was to make an action adventure game based around different sports, where you would go to different areas of the map and defeat various sports teams (in combat) to become an All Star athlete. It could be compared to a combination of Zelda meets River City Ransom, maybe with some Mother/Earthbound vibes.

So far, I have indefinitely limited the project to being almost entirely about Baseball, since I am not entirely certain about the memory and graphic limitations. Most of the map has been made with one small tile set, and about 3-4 colour pallets.

I didn't want to bite off more than I can chew, and would ideally like the game to be able to play on a physical cartridge, so again, for now I am limited and don't fully understand just exactly how many different tile sets a standard cartridge/chip set would hold.

So far, I only have the world map mostly complete, and have basic attacks and enemies programmed by following the top down adventure tutorials.

The core gameplay will hopefully be based upon Throwing, Hitting, and Catching mechanics. I envision using the Bat/melee weapon to hit Balls back at enemies, and allowing them to Hit, Throw, and Catch projectiles as well. Having different types of throws available to allow different trajectory options would be idea as well. (Curve Ball, Fast Ball, etc.)

I've only been working on the project for about a month in my spare time before bed, and have made the majority of it with my left hand, as my right hand was broken and in a cast. It gave me something productive and fun to do, while having limited mobility/dexterity.

Here are some screenshots of the current overworld, and some screens of potential interest.
