Great minds think alike! although, tbh I usually just ctrl P to bring up PPU viewer nowadays. I find that the quickest way to figure out what's going on or to reference CHRs.
When you test your game in MESEN emulator - press CTRL and P or in Germany STRG and P and it opens the PPU viewer - go to the CHR register and there you can get the tile number by selecting the tile you wantIm so new I don’t even know what Ctrl P is!
