Looks like a super early arcade like Sherif or something. You could put the finished game into a cabinet instead of on a cart.

Thanks. that's exactly the vibe I'm aiming for. As my skills improve I'll make games with more modern looks and feels.

Graphics are based on CC0 licensed content for now so I don't have to draw anything myself. I'd rather be focusing on code.

Aww, that's a awesome start. Screams Atari to me. You're going to have to work in a whole lot of palette swapping to achieve those flashing colors Atari is known for.

What's CC0 content? Do they have 8-bit stuff?

I'm gradually getting better at pixel art (thats what I enjoy the most) so if you prefer the programming stuff and you're interested in a colab further down the line let me know.

Here's a video capture of me running through the whole demo. I will share a playable cart once I get my code organized the way I want to.

nice, looks like the background is alittle messed up or is that secretly animated? im not sure but it looks good, also make sure to put in the beta songs and sound effect because sometimes things like monsters glitch out when you dont have at least one sound effect

Attached find an archive of my first playable demo, made & packaged with NESMaker 4.5.9!

I have only tested it myself, on my own computer.

Enjoy!

good, although missing any music or sound effects, although thats understandable because its supposed to represent an atari game but the nes can simulate the atari sound chip soooooooo i may or may not wip up a small little song if you would like, although i probably should be studying for midterms

here you go, on the house... or forum in not really sure, its kind of bad but that's Atari music, its always really out of tune, as well you can only use 2 channels soooooo, not i also included the obligatory boooom sound effect for every atari game, here is the txt file, the sfx are titled boom and CoinThing idk i made it in about 30 minuets sooooooo its probably not that good.
